Recipe for Wedding Fun!

30 Sep

I absolutely love Fall!  There is something magical in the air that makes me feel good!  From the colors of the leaves to the smell of the air it doesn’t get any better.  Some of my favorite reminders of Autumn are carmel apples, apple picking, hay rides in the pumpkin patch and jumping through a jumbo pile of freshly raked fallen leaves!!  With this time of year the tempature dips and the cool beverages of summer become warm and cozy.

Many times these days bridal couples want a signature or speciality drink to serve to their guests.  I want to share with you a fantastic family recipe from my Lithuanian heritiage that can be served either warm or chilled and would be great to serve at a wedding or make in batches to put in bottles as favors to your guests.  Or better yet, why not have this beverage as the wedding toast for a fall wedding!!

The name of the drink is called Boilo.

Here is what you need:

1 quart 80 proof whisky.  (Wild Turkey is a great choice and they also have a honey flavored version)

2 oranges

1 lemon

1 tablespoon carraway seeds

1 cinamon stick

8 ounces of honey

3 tablespoons sugar

4 ounces water

Combine all ingredients including rinds heat for 20-30 minutes.  Ust the name of the beverage as your reminder to Boil -Low.  Get it?  Boilo!  Clever huh?

Afterwards you want to strain into the bottles.  Some sediment will be at the bottom but the flavor is very yummy.

One word of caution!!!  This beverage doesn’t have a strong alcohol flavor but it packs a big punch!

Enjoy this fun recipe!
